The beginning of May will mark my one-year anniversary with Alair Homes Vancouver. In that year, I have seen the company grow and do great things on a franchise level and with the entire brand. I myself have grown many lengths within the company. Looking back and reflecting, it is easy to see why I joined with Alair and happily continue to work for them.

Ten years ago as a young green carpenter, managing residential construction sites was done very differently than now. Most contracts were signed with a handshake and most managers didn’t have a computer let alone an email account. Budgets were done by hand or on spreadsheets and were updated infrequently. Clients were left in the dark while construction carried on, never fully sure whether their expectations were being met.

While many companies continue to work within this structure, others have been working hard to keep up with the times and evolve in the industry with technological advances and customer service. I believe Alair Homes to be at the forefront of this evolution and a leader in the innovation of our industry.

Alair’s Collaborative Mentality

With multiple offices across Canada and the US, we are constantly working together to find best practices in everything we do – with how we interact with our clients and sub trades, our up to date budgeting and software, and our transparency which is reflected within the company as well as publicly.
Most contractors can deliver the same product at the end of the day but it is how they perform during the course of construction that makes all the difference. Building or renovating can be extremely stressful and finding the right contractor to trust with your hard earned money and deliver on your expectations can make the difference from moving into a house filled with bad memories to enjoying your dream home.

I have worked in both spectrums of the construction industry, from the “Cowboy construction” of yesterday to the innovative and evolving construction management of Alair Homes. With not only a strong commitment to their clients, but also to their employees, it is easy to see why I enjoyed my first year with Alair Homes so much and will continue to enjoy many more years to come.
