If you have a family in Toronto, March brings registration for hundreds of stimulating and exciting City of Toronto Summer Camps for children ages four to 17 years old put on by the Toronto Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Department.
What is included?
These camps offer subjects for a wide range of interests and are conveniently located in different neighborhoods across the city. A new mapping feature allows the filtering of results by age, season, type of camp, location, and more to make it possible to choose a camp close to your home. You have to register ahead for a Client and Family Number, but the directions online are easy to follow.
What type of activities?
There are general activities such as music, games, arts and crafts projects, local trips, special events, as well as specialized programming such as sports, a combination of dance and gymnastic moves choreographed to favorite music, skating, visual arts, exploring a variety of art mediums and artistic expressions, workshops, organized play, mini tournaments, learning about the environment, identifying wildlife and plant specimens, computer instruction, learning to cook, dramatic performances, gymnastics, or other choices.
The Staff
The camps are staffed by trained and experienced counselors have been carefully selected for their experience, background in working with children, and enthusiasm for wanting to make the camp experience one that will delight the children and give them wonderful memories. The staff participates in training for child management, program planning, support, and much more. They are also certified in Emergency First Aid. Supervision because your child must be in a safe and caring environment, and they follow procedures that put safety first at camp and when on trips.
Summer and Other Camps
