This holiday season, the town of Jasper is inviting all of us to return to the majestic Canadian Rockies, visit the storied slopes of Marmot Basin, or simply explore the natural beauty of your surroundings – hiking around Maligne Lake, snowshoeing the meadows with the Rockies rising above you. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer, a nature enthusiast, spending time with your friends nd family, or simply looking for things to do with the kids while they’re on their Winter Break, our team at Alair has put together some of our favourite spots in this mountain town that holds so many memories for all of us.
Majestic Maligne Lake
While Team Alair loves canoeing the pristine waters in the spring and summer months, Maligne Lake and the surrounding area offer the promise of adventure, regardless of athletic ability. Cross-country ski, snowshoe, or take a walk in the Maligne Valley – it’s got something for everyone. Looking to boost your adrenaline? Try fat biking – a favourite amongst our Bow Valley team!
Did you know? Some of Team Alair have celebrated milestone moments here at Maligne Lake – including engagements and elopements! This valley holds so many memories for us.
Shred Marmot Basin
Delve into deep and untracked powder on Marmot’s expansive terrain – slopes that are perfect for both beginners and seasoned experts. Ski between Marmot’s breathtaking mountain vistas, embracing panoramic views that take your breath away. Marmot’s bunny hills have developed many an Alair Junior skier!
Warm Up With an Apres Ski
Whether you’re sipping a famed Jasper Park Lodge smoked Old Fashioned, or a morning-after Caesar, the lodges in and around Jasper have delicious beverages best enjoyed around a roaring fire, perfect for warming up.
Soar Above Jasper on the SkyTram
If hiking and skiing isn’t for you, but you still want to enjoy breathtaking panoramas, hop on the Jasper SkyTram and soar to new heights, taking in the pristine wilderness and the resiliency of the wildlife in the terrain below. Looking for something darker? Jasper is home to one of the world’s largest dark sky preserves, free from light pollution and celestial scenery that will take your breath away.
#DidYouKnow? Jasper is the second largest dark sky preserve in the world, and the town hosts many festivals and opportunities for connection throughout the year. Check out https://www.jasperdarksky.travel/ for more information – including fireside chats, perfect for fostering connection and collaboration.
Rest, Rejuvenate and Relax
In the waters of Miette Hot Springs. Immerse yourself in the naturally heated mineral waters, and enjoy peace, tranquility, and the perfect spot for reflection as we head into the New Year.
Our Alair team has said that some of them prefer Miette over the famous Banff Hot Springs – so check them out and let us know what you think!
Enjoy a Slice
No trip to Jasper is ever complete without a stop at the famous Jasper Pizza Place. Savour delicious wood-fired pizzas crafted with fresh, local ingredients, and sip on a Jasper Brewing Co. beer while you’re at it!
The best part? They deliver – so no need to leave your cozy stay unless you want to! If you head downtown – try and see how many iconic Jasper the Bear‘s that you can spot!
Stay at the famed Jasper Park Lodge
Team Alair has hosted countless partner retreats at the famed Jasper Park Lodge over the years, embracing their storied log cabins, and creating memories with each other. Unfortunately, the JPL cabin that the team last stayed at during the pandemic burnt down in the Jasper wildfire this past year – but the memories, laughter and connection lives on. We’re looking forward to another retreat at this iconic lodge this winter.
Whether you’re seeking iconic thrills in the mountains, or tranquility as you sit in a red Adirondack chair, wrapped in a blanket and immersing yourself in the serenity of the Rockies, an unforgettable experience awaits you this winter. We can’t wait for you to make as many memories in Jasper as we have.
