The Delta area of British Columbia is overflowing with good activities for you and your family to do. Between outdoors activities like hiking, camping, horseback riding, bird watching, and beachcombing; cultural events like wine tasting, golfing, and ferry boat rides; and exciting aerial activities like helicopter and airplane tour rides over the beautiful area, you will never be bored here this year.

British Columbia Ferries

One of the best things to do in British Columbia is to catch a ferry boat ride over to the stunningly beautiful Vancouver Island. Besides hosting one of the most incredibly set towns in all of Canada— Victoria, situated on this island, there are miles and miles of beautiful nature trails and scenic coastal overlooks to take in and enjoy.

Centennial Beach

The weather may not be warm enough for sunbathing, but Centennial Beach is always a good idea when the weather is clear. Even a walk along this sandy beach is well worth the trip. The views are stunningly beautiful, and in summer, you can make a good full day of it actually wearing a bathing suit. Tennis courts and bbq pits are both available here.

George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary

The popularity of birding seems to only grow with every passing year. This worldwide phenomenon finds a good home to practice it in the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. This sanctuary is ideal for families too, not only exotic birders. A lesser known area treasure, this sanctuary is actually one of Canada’s top bird-watching sites and the winter home of the famed snow geese.

Watershed Park

For hiking or mountain bike riding, one of the best spots in all of British Columbia may be Watershed Park. The terrain is challenging without being too strenuous for the non- mountain guide type of person. Visitors consistently rate this park with 4.5 out of 5 stars for either hiking or biking activities.

Wine Tasting Locations

Several fine wineries offer tours and wine tasting to mix in some local culture along with all of the fantastic outdoors types of activities in the Delta region of British Columbia. Both Wellbrook Winery and Westham Island Estate Winery are good bets for this type of drinkable culture. Westham Island Estates offers fabulous fruit wines that you can try out on the island.

Boundary Bay Regional Park

Anyone who enjoys kite boarding will love Boundary Bay Regional Park. This beautiful setting on the water allows all sorts of water-based activities, not simply kite boarding. The higher winds at this location make it a terrific spot for the boards.

Golf Courses

Avid golfers will enjoy hitting the links in British Columbia, where the natural settings of the golf courses are simply world class and incomparable views lie between every hole. There are three full-sized golf courses in this part of the province. Do not miss Sunshine Woods Golf Centre, Tsawwassen Springs Golf, and the gorgeously set Kings Links Golf Course By the Sea.

Delta Nature Reserve

Fine walking is to be enjoyed at the Delta Nature Reserve. Peat bogs abound to provide a more interesting setting than your run of the mill nature reserve. Only be careful not to get far off the well-trodden paths and fall into any of these nasty bogs that are only interesting so long as you stay out of them.

Hiking & Camping Tours

It would be a shame to come to British Columbia and not do some serious camping. Fortunately, the Delta area has enough of these activities to even offer a hiking and camping tours excursion company. Step Outside Adventures provides day long hiking tours and camping advice and guidance as well.

Helicopter and Airplane Tours

Vancouver, Victoria, and the Delta areas all look even more incomparable when seen from the skies. This region offers both helicopter tours and airplane tours. Vancouver Helicopter Tours is a great starting point, as are the air tours like Canadian Flight Centre and International Flight Centre Inc., which offers a one day flight package around the area.
