It’s going to be a cold on this winter and you’re sure to be dressed in a couple layers at all hours of the day. However with the proper attire, there’s nothing holding you back from exploring the many exciting adventures waiting for you in and around Delta, British Columbia. Below, we’ve listed out seven activities that are as interesting as they are diverse (and winter friendly!):
1) Feed the birds at George C Reifel Bird Sanctuary
It may seem like an unorthodox idea, but visiting this sanctuary provides a lovely mix of cute and charm. Bring a picnic, feed the ducks, and take in the surroundings. Don’t worry, there’s always raptors available year-round so make your trip with confidence.
2) Taste the Fruit Wine at Wellbrook Winery
An unusual aspect of this hard to spot winery is that all of its product is made from fruit, not grapes. The rustic appearance and friendly staff will make you feel at home between sips and be sure to indulge in the pies as well. Pies and wine – who know?!
3) Indulge in the Ocean Breeze at Centennial Beach
Even in the winter and even with snow, this well-lit and open space is a perfect day trip. A truly wonderful place to bring the family for some cross country skiing or perhaps the dog for a little walk. Either way, you’ll appreciate the beautiful coastline and openness of the vista.
4) Engross Yourself in Local History at the Delta Museum
At one point, Delta was a miniscule fishing village and it too has its share of historical moments. This finely crafted building was also once a jail as well as a morgue so expect a minor ‘haunted’ feel while you take in the history of this beautifully quaint town.
5) Take In a Show at The Gateway Theater
Currently showing The Wizard of Oz, The Gateway Theater offers up an exciting display of talent and energy. Perfect for the holiday season as it offers excitement and movement but does so in a closed environment (out of the cold). Be sure to get your tickets in advance to both save money and get a better seat!
6) Paint your friends at Delta Laser Tag & Paintball
Whether you opt for the more visceral paintball or the virtual laser tag, you and your friends will surely have a blast at Delta Laser Tag & Paintball. Featuring multiple varied fields/play areas, no two matches will ever be the same. A perfect way to exert some energy during the cold months of the year.
7) Jump on a Horse For Winter’s Ride at Cambridge Stables
Horses are beautiful creatures, and when trotting through the white snow, they can be downright majestic. At Cambridge Stables, a group can take in the natural beauty and these wondrous animals for a small cost. Be sure to check deal websites like LivingSocial and Groupon to explore frequent deals for this establishment.
These seven items are just a taste of the many fun and interesting things you can do in and around Delta, British Columbia this holiday season.
