I’ve heard it said that the hardest part of building someone’s dream is to find the right partner, someone you can trust implicitly to spend your hard earned money to make your home a reality.
Is there such a person out there that can help? Most builder contractors would like to think so, but what separates those that THINK they are right for you and those that ARE right for you? Quite a gamble isn’t it? Who can help? Building suppliers? Internet search engines? Too bad there aren’t more guys like the contractors that you watch on TV, who can do no wrong, out there protecting the new home and renovation client market. Could they help? Would they help? What would they charge you to act as a placement service? Do you hire based on personality? Do you hire based on physical looks? Do you hire after you have grilled them with your questions? Are they the right questions? Wow! After taking this all in, why even start?
The answer to all this is simple. It’s your dream home, and nothing, not even a potentially bad contractor is going to stop you. Good for you. There are so many reputable contractors, new home builders, renovators, out there, you can’t let the guys that are trying to live for themselves stop you. We can’t let them ruin our industry or spoil our chances of being a part of your support group. Ask the right questions, do your homework, search for those that offer transparency as part of their idealism’s, be comfortable with what they are selling. Make sure their vision lines up with yours. The next steps involve you making a rather large investment, maybe even your biggest, so protect yourself and your family.
And above all, enjoy the journey. This process can be very fulfilling if you make the right choices at the beginning.
