Welcome to Burlington, Ontario! Voted the second-best city to live in all of Ontario, our city is growing and thriving, with happy residents and an active population of more than 175,000.

Spencer Smith Park Makes a Perfect Day

As part of the Toronto area, we border the western shore of Lake Ontario. The lake offers many activities and is highlighted by Spencer Smith Park. There you’ll find a new dock with a long pier, the Festival of Lights, and Bruce Trail – walking and biking trails over cliffs and natural terrain.

Parks Everywhere you Look

Spencer Smith Park is on the waterfront, but you’ll also find natural park land in residential areas, and several downtown. Altogether there are 115 parks in Burlington, covering 580 hectares (1,433 acres).

A Family Affair

Take the family skating year-round at Appleby Ice Center, or 8 other ice pads throughout the city. For the warmer months, there are nine golf courses ready for your foursome. With a family emphasis, Burlington offers a huge variety of recreation activities, large and small.

Ooh and Ahh at the Royal Botanical Garden

Another of Burlington’s award-winning attractions is the Royal Botanical Gardens, with respected naturalists who care for the world’s largest collection of lilacs. It’s a peaceful place, termed “extraordinary” by visitors.

Art in our Soul

We have a love affair with art in Burlington. We’re home to the award-winning Art Gallery of Burlington, offering 10 exhibits a year – all free of charge. All over town and on any given day, the works of local artists and craft artisans show and demonstrate their work.

Let’s Party!

Burlington is prime territory for festivals and celebrations. We host the “Sound of Music” Festival on Father’s Day weekend, a 40-year tradition that draws crowds of visitors from all over Canada. A fun and successful fundraising event is our “Canada’s Largest Ribfest,” with dozens of cooking teams competing for the coveted prize.

Convenience in Daily Living

On a practical note, you’ll find many choices in banks and dozens of convenient branches, citywide. Burlington has 43 elementary schools and 11 high schools, both public and private. You’ll find excellent medical doctors and nurses right here. We live in a vibrant and convenient city.

A Strong and Growing Economy

The strength of our economy is variety. A diverse economic base, with no one employer or industry taking a noticed majority, keeps growth stable and predictable. This accounts for the continued high marks in real estate values. The city is growing, with homes in all price ranges, and some of the best values in the Greater Toronto area.

Everything Old is New Again

Many older neighborhoods are transforming, with mass remodeling and updating. The good news is that you’ll find plenty of general contractors and home construction experts in town. It seems to be a specialty in Burlington. Residents say Alair Homes is a dependable choice.

Welcome Newcomers!

With all that Burlington has to offer, we’re sure you’ll be happy here. Get to know your neighbors. Shop ‘til you drop while downtown or at Burlington Mall. Take your family into the fun of the city. Welcome!
