With a four season room you can enjoy those amazing sunsets that Clear Lake is known for all year long. Four season rooms attach to your existing structure and are built to utilize your existing HVAC system. This means a space to unwind comfortably while taking in the sights no matter what time of year. Just imagine being able to curl up and enjoy those beautiful snowy winter landscapes with a cup of hot chocolate!

A few factors to take into account when including a four season room in your next renovation or custom home in Clear Lake.

Room Size and Orientation

Four season rooms can be used in a variety of ways. Once you have decided how you will utilize your four season room you’ll want to give some thought to the size. If you’re looking for a cozy space to simply relax and read a book then a smaller room may make sense. But if you want a space where you can entertain family and friends while enjoying the breathtaking views of Clear Lake then you will want to consider a larger space.

When determining the location make sure to not only look for a spot that will give you the best views, but also consider the sun’s pattern so you can be sure to maximize natural light.

Whether you are converting an existing porch or including a four season room in the design of your new custom home, we recommend consulting with your local building expert to better understand how size and orientation will impact the use of this space.

Windows

Windows, windows, windows! The windows in a four season room are one of the most important components. We recommend installing high-performance, energy-efficient windows like the triple pane units sold by Armwood Windows.

Using insulated glass products helps to lower electricity costs. Insulated glass is also perfect for blocking ultraviolet rays which will better protect your furnishings.

Insulation

A well-insulated four season room allows you to enjoy the outdoors throughout all four seasons of the year because it is designed to be heated and cooled. Proper insulation will better regulate the temperature of the room by keeping cool air inside in the summer and keeping the cold temperatures outside during winter months. We recommend using at least R-22 batt insulation in your four season room. You can increase the energy efficiency by adding additional Styrofoam insulation to the exterior or by upgrading to closed cell spray foam.
